Security
Silixa’s IDAS has many security applications and the main applications we are focusing on are:

- - facility perimeters
- - border monitoring
- - port perimeters
- - monitoring at the sea surface/air interface
Optical fibre can be cost-effectively and discreetly installed (for example buried) along tens
of kilometres of a perimeter to detect any intrusion. With the use of appropriate signal recognition
algorithms, the system can distinguish between, for example, people, animals and vehicles (and even
types of vehicles) passing over the fibre. The IDAS can be used with existing telecoms cables, for
example those installed alongside pipelines.
